Domaine Mee Godard Morgon Grand Cras 2019
Mee, with formal culinary training, studied at the University of Oregon on Wine Field and oenology in France with experience at Domaine Chanson, Comtes Lafon and Corton Andre.
In 2013, she and husband established Domaine Godard under her husband’s family name on the Valentine’s Day in the region of Morgon. She trusts this region has much potentials of producing “vin de garde” (wine which is enjoyable at young bottle age but also with long cellar potential). 5 hectare of vineyard adapting biodynamic approach and all hand made. she pursue her dream single handed as a single mom. All wine are artisan and hand made with annual production less than 10,000 bottles.
Forget about her special background and focus on the style, I appreciate Mee not only for her persistence, but also the delicate wine making skills. The first time I tasted the Cote du Py 2013, I thought it was a Pommard. For her personality, it is impossible for her not making good Burgundy style. It is exactly an iron fist in velvet glove. If you are a sentimental type of person, I guess you will like Godard.

Tasting Note 鑒賞:
Starting out on bosky cherry scents and chipped-stone minerality, this is powerful
wine, with mouthwatering tannins that yield to a range of floral notes, from jasmine to
lilies. The flavors are long lasting and black, a classical take on Morgon and a
formidable wine to age.Well pairing with duck magret and a pot-au-feu.
