內斂的異彩 

日本是香港人最喜愛的旅遊點，經常被取笑為去日本等於回鄉。我估計除了是因為大和民族蘊藏了儒家思想之外，最令人們流連忘返的，要數他們的工匠精神和對維護傳統的那份熱忱。

在意大利酒王巴羅洛中, 我敢說巴托洛馬斯卡拉羅是擁護傳統的表表者。五代以來守着1.5頃的土地，獨沽一味只做巴羅洛。巴托洛甚至在他的酒箱上標明不准用法國小木桶。

許多葡萄酒初哥， 十分喜愛木桶的香味。有時我懷疑是不是因為這種香味最易識別，當你幌着酒杯跟酒友門吹水的時候，說一句木桶真香囉，這樣子來扮行家肯定錯不了。哈哈！如有冒犯請多多包涵！

論價錢巴托洛不是最昂貴; 般奴芝雅歌薩用頂尖的布根地木桶，盡顯金光燦爛，賈科莫康坦奴匠心獨運，精雕細琢；馬薩連奴荊釵布裙，實而不華。但是不知何故最令人回味的，還是巴托洛，因為在他質樸的表面下滲透出萬丈光芒。恍如老沉香的斯洛文尼亞大木桶的幽香，恰到好處地襯托花果香，就是原汁原味的傳統巴羅洛！

他的價錢也很老實，以世界頂尖級的工藝來說，比起法國的名莊酒簡直就是超值。而且窖藏潛力可以高達80至100年，確實是可以玩味一輩子的佳釀。

2006是大好年份市面難求。

Restrained Splendour  

Japan is the favorite tourist destination for Hong Kong people, and it is often teased that going to Japan is equivalent to returning home. I guess that in addition to the Confucianism contained in the Yamato nation, what makes people linger the most is their craftsmanship and enthusiasm for maintaining tradition.

Among the Italian wine kings, Barolo, I dare say that Bartolo Mascarello is the representative person who upholds tradition. For five generations, he had guarded 1.5 hectares of land and only made Barolo. Bartolo even stated on his wine cases that French casks are not allowed.

Many wine novices love the aroma of oak. Sometimes I wonder if it’s because this scent is the easiest to identify. When you are buffering with your drinking buddies under the guise of a wine glass, you can’t go wrong pretending to be an expert by saying that the oak smells really good. Ha ha! Please forgive me if I am offensive.

In terms of price, Bartolo is not the most expensive;  Bruno Giacosa uses top-notch Burgundian oak to show the splendid, Giacomo Conterno is unique and meticulously crafted; Mossolino is rustic, practical but not flashy. However, somehow it is Bartolo who is most evocative because of the immense light that oozes beneath his earthy surface. The fragrance of Slovenian wooden barrels is like old agarwood, which perfectly complements the floral and fruity aroma. It is the original traditional Barolo!

His prices are also very honest. Considering the world's top craftsmanship, it is simply a great value compared to famous French wines. And the cellaring potential can be as high as 80 to 100 years. It is indeed a wine that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

2006 is a good year and hard to find in the market.
